Rounded Ends: Meditation For Self Closure

Life is not always fair game.

I think it's safe to say that most of us at one point in our life will go through a situation or experience connections with others that don't always align with our Higher Self/goals.

I would like to think/reflect on the concept that there are no accidents or negative experiences in this life time - just positive lessons in order for us to grow stronger with every challenge...

So how do we deal with our emotional Self during these testing lessons?

It's in tough moments like this that I like to meditate on this word...

Closure n.
1. The act of closing or the state of being closed: closure of an incision.
2. Something that closes or shuts.
3. A bringing to an end; a conclusion: finally brought the project to closure.

Taken from the
Urban dictionary:
1. To attempt to 'move on' following the termination of a relationship with another individual.
2. When used in a sentence, insinuates that the individual using the word is the same individual who was the target of the 'break-up'.

Some personal definitions of what closure means to me:
1. A space of transition into a new stage of our Self journey.
2. Accepting that we are not always in control of external factors.
3. Being conscious/aware of our actions in the past and learning from them.
4. Detachment of Self from a negative place to really examine it.
5. To 'break up' with what we have outgrown, negatively connected with or used to clutter (emotionally/spiritually/physically) our Self.
6. Trusting that internal urge/instinct that tells you when closure and movement forward is needed.

Here is a simple meditation that may help you in finding closure:

Take a few minutes to seat your Self in a comfortable upright position, ensuring that your spine is relaxed and straight. An easy way to do so is by crossing your legs and imagining that a string is pulling your head up and keeping your head high and spine straight. If you need more support, you can rest your back on a wall behind you with crossed legs. If crossed legs is uncomfortable, you can extend both of your legs straight in front you you and have your back leaning straight against a wall. Pillows are optional.

For the first 5 minutes, do a series of deep breaths and watch how your natural pattern of breathing changes when you are in relaxation mode.

When you are ready, think of the external factor that needs spiritual closure (situation, person(s), past choices etc).

What is the first mental image that signifies this factor to you? Do you wish to see this mental image as a symbol for this meditation? If not, continue to reflect on a mental image that you feel is suitable and comfortable to work with. Remember, your senses are endless. This mental image might come in a form that is tied up with a sense that attracted you to this factor (smell, touch, vision etc).

When you have found one that feels right, enclose this image in a secure bubble. This bubble is a protection and form of detachment for you to observe it closely, without getting too connected with it - Think of it as looking from a safe distance, from an outsider's view.

How does it make you feel? Connect with all the emotions and imagine all your emotions are blurring this image in the bubble. The bubble clouds up slowly, releasing your negative emotions in a safe bubble.

When you are ready to move on to the next step, imagine that you are now going to fill this bubble with healing light. Slowly, imagine your healing energy fill this bubble until it is cleansed, ready for you to move forward and release this bubble into the Universe. This might take a few tries, especially when your negative emotions are empowering and need to settle.

When you do reach a stage when you can fill that bubble with genuine forgiveness, love, positive energy, positive lessons that you learned and a feeling of knowing that it is time to release it, then you can now visualise that the bubble s being elevated and released into the air - like a light balloon slowly escaping into the sky.

Watch it as it drifts away from you. What do you feel now after your Self closure?

Take all the time you need to do each step - This can be done over a long period of time and repeated several times so you affirm your closure and heal in the process.

Light and love! I hope you enjoy it!
